Smoking (Red) Hot
There’s something about the color red that just makes every woman feel like a million bucks. Whether it’s a sexy red dress, the perfect red lip or a great pair of red shoes like these smoking Romi slippers from Vionic, you’re bound to stop traffic.
Red shoes are always a great way to add visual interest and elevate a look without a lot of effort. Opting for a stylish flat means I don’t have to compromise style for comfort. And if you live in a commuter city like I do, you know how important comfort is.
I paired my red loafers with a printed blouse, distressed ankle jeans and a green leather jacket. Both the jacket and the shoes are great statement pieces and the complementary colors play off each other really well.
I also accessorized with a grey fedora and bold red lip. My personal style tends to err on the edgier side so a hat (and the leather jacket) were a great way for me to “harden” the look while staying polished and put together. Adding a red lip is a neat trick to force the eyes to scan the body from head to toe, but even without the red lip the shoes still totally work.
If leather isn’t your thing (or the weather doesn’t permit), you can still rock this look without the jacket for a much more casual feel. The simple print of the blouse and the delicate embroidered details on the loafers keep the look lighthearted but chic.
A simple white mini crossbody is the perfect final touch to tie the look together. It draws out the blouse and the metal hardware play well with hardware on the leather jacket.
This look—and especially the shoes—are ones I can see myself going to over and over again. (Sorry, not sorry.) It’s such a stylish outfit with tons of personality and the red shoes really say, “It’s ok…you can stare. I don’t mind.”
