What I Wore Today
Well, technically it was yesterday, but y’all know how I do.
My move to New Orleans has really put my style to the test. These people think I’m a unicorn. One man even went as far as to describe my style as “peculiar”. lol. Well, yesterday I decided to really give them a show.
Check it out…

ankara print skirt, $10 – Beacon’s Closet; Sheer Polka Dot Top, $28 – Poshmark app; Gold plate & leather necklace, $25 – Aldo
I”ve had this ankara print skirt in my closet for a few months now and I’ve been dying to break it in. I purchased it for $10 at the Beacon’s Closet (Park Slope) in NYC. After spending $7 to have the sides taken in, this bright summer piece cost me a total of $17. Score!
This top you guys probably remember from a previous post. I purchased it with my Poshmark app for iPhone. The open back can also be worn tied, so this time I tied it in order to draw attention to my waist.
As much as I thought people here in NOLA would look at me like I was crazy, I was surprised to see how many people stopped and complimented me. The conversation usually started with, “You’re not from here, are you?” and ended with, “Yea, because your sway is way different.” But hey…different can be a good thing, right?
What do you think of what I wore?
