Travel Diary: Pisa, Italy
I recently took a day trip to Pisa. My study abroad program in Siena ended and it was time to head to Paris for the next program. My flight to Paris (from Pisa) didn’t leave until later in the evening, but the one bus leaving out of Siena left at 7am in the morning. So I figured, why not make a day of it. (I didn’t know I wouldn’t need a whole day.)
Once I arrived in Pisa, I dropped my luggage off at the airport, hopped on a bus and headed “into the city” to see what all Pisa had to offer.
I’d always heard people say that there’s nothing in Pisa to see except the Leaning Tower of Pisa…and they’re pretty much right. The Baptistry, the Cathedral and the Leaning Tower are all right in the same piazza together. You can get a good look at all 3 in about 2 or 3 hours (longer if you want to tour the inside of the Tower), grab a bite to eat and some gelato and you’ve pretty much seen all of Pisa. But I still had such a great time. I met a lot of great people. I took the trip by myself, so I really got a chance to talk and interact with other tourists. I met a group of really cool girls from Turkish who all wanted to take pictures with me. I also got mobbed by the cutest group of older Asian women. They were so intrigued by me. It was actually kind of funny. Overall, the day was a lot of fun. (Which is more than I can say for my flight afterwards. Crazy turbulence!)
And of course I took the obligatory “Leaning Tower of Pisa” photo…only with a twist. You know me. lol.
Until next time Pisa!
