Rooftop Oasis with Arhaus
I promised you guys a post on my rooftop makeover so here it is!
When I first viewed my house over a year ago, it was the dead of Chicago winter and the ground was covered in snow. I blame the snow for my perhaps poor decision making at the time. Because if I had seen the true extent of the damage and wood rot of the deck, I might have run screaming for the hills. Because looking back at these pictures makes me wonder if I was temporarily out of my mind! Take a look for yourself.
The pictures are bad, but honestly they don’t show you just how bad things were. Because even once the snow was melted I thought, “This just needs a little TLC.” Turns out it all needed to be completely ripped apart and redone. If you want to see the full gut job and rebuild, make sure to head over to my Instagram highlight where I saved the whole project.
In the meantime, let’s get into what it looked like now!
AFTER!
I partnered with Arhaus to create a relaxing space to hang out in the spring and summer months. I was able to use their complimentary design service and one of their designers—Kim Domanski—to create 3 different zones throughout my rooftop.
The first area was the main lounging area. It includes a custom 6 pieces sectional in soft grey with lots of throw pillows for extra comfort. The material is engineered to withstand the elements and even in the spring showers dried super fast and I was still able to enjoy it. We also included a propane fire pit for a little added warmth during the cooler nights.
We also included 2 outdoor ottomans for extra seating.

The next section was the outdoor dining area. For this section I wanted there to be plenty of seating to entertain friends but still be close enough to the lounge area that conversation can still happen across both. The braided swivel chairs were the perfect way to make gathering around the table or the fire pit super easy.

The last area was my own personal little lounge area off my bedroom. I love to come out here in the mornings and just get a little sun before starting my day. It’s the perfect post to get a slow relaxing start to the day or unwind at night.
A super special THANK YOU to Arhaus and Kim Domanski for helping me to create the rooftop of my dreams and I can’t wait for the warmer weather to return so I can get back to hanging out in my favorite spot.
