One Hundred, Max
It’s no secret that we all love maxi dresses. Guys love them. Girls love them. For different reasons, of course, but the love is still very, very real. I actually love wearing maxi dresses because they’re so simple and easy. They don’t require a lot of styling or fuss. You can just put it on and go. I also love that maxi dresses are so versatile. My favorite fashion combo of all time is a dress with sneakers—because of the mix of feminine and edgy—and a long flowy maxi dress with a pair of Chucks always makes me feel the most like “me.” Let’s review (and shop, of course!) some of my past maxi dress looks from the blog and my favorite shops all under $100. This look (above) features an olive Missguided maxi I purchased from Nordstrom. I actually purchased it for a more formal event and initially wore it with olive heels. But for the blog, I dressed it down with a pair of sneakers from Johnston & Murphy and paired with accessories in the same olive color scheme. Unfortunately, the dress is sold out, but I’ve provided you with some similar and equally gorgeous options all for $100 or less.
Next up is this knit and fitted maxi from A.L.C. This one is a little on the pricey side ($485), but I’ve worn it more times than I can count and plan to get every single dollar worth out of it! Don’t be surprised if I show up to one of your weddings in it—dress code be damned. Lol. For the blog, I styled it with a pair of $30 sandals from JustFab, but in my day to day, I typically wear it with white high top Chucks.
If you’re looking to invest in a dress with a similar fit, Opening Ceremony has several that will have your milkshake bringing all the boys to the yard.
Now, this particular dress I worked really, really hard to get my hands on! I first spotted this Olivia Palermo dress while browsing Nordstrom’s website late one night. Unfortunately, it was sold out in my size. But I was determined to get my hands on it! So, I checked back every single night around 2am (life hack: sites like Nordstrom often restock/update their inventory during the late night/early morning hours) and I finally found it in an XS. Truth be told, I wanted the XXS, but I wasn’t going to push my luck. So I ordered the XS and used Nordstrom’s free tailoring service to have it taken in a bit.
It was worth every minute of lost sleep.
Again, sold out. Sorry. But you can never go wrong with burgundy or off the shoulder so I’ve got you options!
This Marissa Webb dress is a recent feature on the on the blog. It’s another splurge piece ($698), but you can always do what I did and rent it from Rent the Runway for $120. BUT…if you’ve got it like that, I’ve got you covered!
Now that you’ve seen a few of my favs from the blog, you can shop all the ones I WISH I owned. Feel free to grab one for me while you’re shopping! I’ll love you forever!
