My Nude is Beautiful

Brown skin girls… our prayers have been answered!

If you’ve ever taken a stroll through your local department store, I’m sure you’ve seen tons of garments advertised as “nude” or “flesh-toned.” But it’s no secret that the vast majority of brands design clothes as if women of color don’t exist. Or at the very least, as if they don’t matter. Those of us on the more “chocolate” end of the spectrum are often left staring at “nude” garments going, “Ummm…this isn’t going to work. AT ALL!” What are we supposed to wear under our sheer garments that won’t look trashy? What about hosiery for those important job interviews or church functions? It’s a nightmare of a search! Well, Nubian Skin—a UK based company—has heard our pleas and answered them BEAUTIFULLY!

I learned about this brand 4 weeks shy of their official launch and I totally flipped! I marked the day on my calendar and set an alarm on my phone. There was no WAY I was missing this! On the day of the launch (yes, as SOON as the site went live), I placed my ordered. (It arrived 2 days later! Talk about fast shipping!)

I knew I wanted this lace set, but I wasn’t sure if it would fit. I normally purchase a 32A in bras, but the line starts at a 30B. But I wanted the complete set so bad that I figured I’d go for the smallest bra size and see what happened. I was completely shocked to find that it fit perfectly. In fact, more comfortably than any bra I owned prior to. I guess it’s true what they say… most women are wearing the wrong bra size. The padding in the bra is just enough to give you a little added curve without making you feel like you’re walking around with floatation devices on your chest. Lol. As a naturally small-chested woman, it’s important to me that my bras don’t make me feel weighed down and really artificial up top. This bra addresses those concerns perfectly. The bottoms I ordered in a size Small. And for those of you wondering, I’m wearing the “CINNAMON” tone.

It’s safe to say that Nubian Skin has made a forever customer out of me. The pieces are beautiful and really quality material. Having a brand that specifically caters to the needs of women who have been left out of the conversation for far too long is a much welcomed change and I can’t wait to see what more they have in store!
