New Year, Fresh Start
The new year is off to the races. And while this year stands to be one with plenty of lows (hopefully not lower than 2016), I’m feeling really optimistic about what’s to come in my personal life. I’ve decided to take a lot more risks this year, especially as it relates to my blogging and branding.
As you guys know, I’ve been blogging for many years now and when I first began this journey, it was just something I did for fun. I loved the intimate connection I had with my audience and I really loved the process of creating new content. I used to wake up every day excited to share my creative ideas. But somewhere along the way, that changed.
The bigger this “thing” got, the less fun it was for me. I recently had a friend talk about how “creativity isn’t organic anymore, it’s strategic”; that really struck a cord with me, because it’s a sentiment I’ve really been struggling with these past few months. Feeling like I’ve outgrown my current aesthetic and branding, but being scared to change it because I wasn’t sure how the change would be received.
But I’ve finally shaken the fear of change and decided to take the leap to make the changes I feel necessary in order to accomplish the goals I’ve set for myself. So here we are! 2017…new year, same me…but chicer. Lol.
So let’s get into it!

The thing I love most about this look are the earrings. I recently had the pleasure of having dinner with Babi of the design duo, Sachin & Babi. She was this incredibly polished, funny and talented woman and we immediately hit it off. So, when she reached out a few months later asking to send me a pair of her new Grapes Earrings, I, of course, said yes!
Once they arrived, I couldn’t believe how gorgeous they were. The completely handmade are stunning works of art. (Bonus: They’re clip-ons…so they don’t weigh down your earlobes… and are available in a ton of colors!) Once I got over how beautiful they are, I thought to myself, “Now where the heck am I going to wear these?!” Literally nothing in my life is fancy enough to warrant such grandeur. Lol. But to my surprise, they work just great with casual clothing.
I paired the earrings with a denim utility jumpsuit, a black turtle and black jewel embellished booties. The denim turban not only is a perfect match to the jumpsuit–pulling the look together–but it’s also just the right touch of “fancy” to complement the earrings. A little red lip–quickly becoming my new favorite thing–and you’re good to go!
