Making a Splash
I was recently featured as a cover story in the spring 2017 issue of Chicago’s Splash Magazine—an insert in the Sunday Chicago Tribune. I have to admit I was really shocked when they asked me to be a part of the issue. I’m still really new to Chicago and there are some amazing creatives here who would have been excellent choices. Their choice to include me—along side Jennifer Lake and Mina Im—was an incredible honor.
Moving to a new city can be a scary thing. Whether you’re moving for a new job, love, or just new opportunities, you can’t always be prepared for what you might find. I’ve moved a lot—Atlanta, NYC, New Orleans, Chicago—in the last 10 years and, personally, I find the process to be exciting and something I need in order to keep pushing myself forward.
Deciding to make Chicago my home was a really spur of the minute decision and wasn’t at all supposed to be long term. My plan was to stop here for a summer and then head back New York City. But somewhere along the way, Chicago stole my heart and the creative community here welcomed me with open arms. Why would I ever leave that?!
For that reason, I have to say a huge ‘THANK YOU!’ to the city of Chicago. This city has really embraced me and my choice to call Chicago home a decision I don’t at all regret—except maybe when it’s below zero outside and I can’t feel my face. Lol. But that’s the only time. I promise!
Check out the photos from the shoot.
