Lupe Fiasco Plays the Roseland in NYC
Lupe Fiasco played to a sold out crowd at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. His opening acts were an artist by the name of Dosage (@therealdosage) and another named Black Milk. Dosage was DOPE! I’m trying to find his mixtape like right now. But that Black Milk character was about this close to getting “keyed”. Every time he said he was about to do another song the crowd started begging for Lupe. It was actually kinda funny. LOL.
This was the first concert that I’ve been to since like 2007 (T.I. on the Scream Tour) and I was soooo excited about it. I’ve been telling anybody who would listen–and even those who wouldn’t–about me going to this concert. Several people who had seen Lupe perform in the past told me it would be one of the best experiences of my life…and Lupe definitely lived up to the hype.
Here’s a little taste!
Forgive me for the shakiness on ‘The Show Goes On’…that is my JAM!
It was a much different concert experience than I’m used to. It was general admission/mosh pit style. There are pros and cons to this type of concert. The cons are that if you’re 5’2″ like me you can pretty much guarantee you’re gonna get stuck standing behind some 6’2″ dude in a fitted cap. It never fails. Another con is that by the end of the night, everything on your body hurts–your feet, your back, your throat from screaming, you neck from trying to see over the people in front of you, and your legs are weak from tiptoeing all night…EVERYTHING! BUT the pros are that if you get there early enough–and depending on the artist “early enough” might mean days in advance–you can get pretty close to the front for the same price as those standing damn near outside. But the MAJOR pro is that the energy in the crowd is LIKE NOTHING YOU’VE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!
I loved that his little sisters were in the crowd and he shouted them out throughout the show. It was really cute.
