Just Kickin’ It

I’m sure you guys have noticed that there’s been a lot of casual cuteness happening on the blog lately. Don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE my heels, but it’s always nice to kick back and relax in a pair of really dope sneakers. And that’s just what these hightop kicks from INKKAS Shoes are…DOPE!
The founder and CEO of Inkkas reached out to me over the Christmas break and asked me if I’d be willing to give their shoes a try. I was immediately impressed with the designs, but I still wanted to know a little more before I could say yes. After doing some research and learning that each shoe is handmade in Peru and that the brand is committed to sustaining the local communities where Inkkas are made, I was hooked. So often brands go into other (smaller) countries and take advantage of their resources without doing anything to uplift the communities that make their products possible, so it was nice to see a brand push back against that narrative. (Bonus: They also plant 1 tree for every pair of shoes they sell!) So of course I said, YES!
After taking a look over their 2014 collection—which at the time was in its final few days of a Kickstarter campaign—I fell in love with these hightop ‘Storms.’ Unfortunately, they were still in the pre-order stage and not yet available for shipping to the US. But I decided to wait it out, because I loved the design so much. (Even though they’ve got quite a few other designs that I love as well.) They arrived a little over a month ago and they were totally worth the wait!!!
I love everything about these sneakers. They’re super comfortable and the bright, cultural patterns are always attention grabbing. I got so many intrigued stares as I was wearing them today. They’re perfect for a day when you want to be casual and comfortable, but still make a statement. Getchu a pair way ahead of the craze!
